Nicholas Pooran Rips Apart LSG Teammates for Flop Batting Show in IPL 2024
Nicholas Pooran has been doing the carry job with the bat for LSG this year.
Nicholas Pooran single-handedly resurrected the Lucknow Super Giants’ innings against the Mumbai Indians (MI) with a blistering knock of 75 runs off just 29 balls. However, his teammates failed to capitalize on his momentum, leaving Pooran visibly frustrated.
The rest of the LSG batting order struggled to find rhythm, managing only 139 runs in their allotted overs. This stark contrast to Pooran’s destructive display highlighted the team’s over-reliance on individual brilliance.
Speaking after the first innings, Pooran didn’t shy away from expressing his disappointment. His comments, though veiled, hinted at a recurring issue:
“Similar situation to ones I’ve been in over the years,” he said, seemingly drawing a parallel between his performance for LSG and his role with the West Indies team. Pooran is known for carrying the West Indies batting on his shoulders at times, and his frustration was visible once again from the lack of support from his LSG teammates.
Pooran’s blitzkrieg knock, which included a flurry of sixes, took LSG from a precarious 69-3 to a respectable 178-3 before his dismissal in the 17th over. However, the team’s batting line-up crumbled after his departure. Thanks to quickfire knock from Ayush Badoni, LSG managed to post 214 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.
