IPL 2024: Entire RR Team Play Eliminator Against RCB Despite Being Unwell and Coughing – Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson revealed that their entire team is unwell currently.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson lauded his young brigade’s batting display after they defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by four wickets in the IPL 2024 Eliminator on Wednesday. However, Samson also revealed a surprising detail – the entire RR team has been battling illness.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Sanju Samson acknowledged the team’s struggles towards the end of the league stage but praised their ability to bounce back in the high-pressure knockout match.

He credited the team’s coaches, Kumar Sangakkara and Shane Bond, for their strategic planning and lauded the young batting unit of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel for their crucial contributions.

“The credit goes to the players,” Samson said. “We’ve spent a lot of time watching the opposition’s batters and planning our bowling and fielding strategies. Huge credit to Sanga and Shane Bond as well. They have put in a lot of effort strategizing in the hotel rooms. Our batting unit is a mix of youngsters and some experienced players. Yashasvi is 22,Riyan is 22, Dhruv is 22. They don’t have much experience, but to see them perform like this is amazing.”

Sanju Samson further admitted that illness has been plaguing the RR camp.

“I’m not 100% actually,” he confessed. “I guess there’s a bug going around in the team. Lots of coughing and many are unwell.”

The Royals will now face the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qualifier 2 on May 24th at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The winner of this match will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final at the same venue.
