Pakistan Drops Saim Ayub Due to Poor Performances Ahead of T20 World Cup 2024
Usman Khan replaced Saim Ayub in Pakistan team against England in the 4th T20I.
Pakistan has decided to drop their young opener Saim Ayub for the crucial 4th T20I match against England on Thursday, May 30 at Kennington Oval, London.
This decision follows a series of poor performances by the youngster. It’s not the first time Ayub has struggled in international cricket.
Last month, he found it difficult to score against New Zealand in the T20I series, though he did show promise with a brisk 45 off 29 balls in the first T20I.
In four matches against the Black Caps, the 21-year-old managed only 52 runs at an average of 14.25, with his highest score being 32.
Before Saim Ayub‘s selection, Babar and Rizwan held the opening slots for the Pakistan team, establishing themselves as one of the premier opening pairs in limited-overs cricket.
This seasoned duo notably forged a record-breaking 105-run partnership, marking their third-century stand in the last Men’s T20I World Cup edition in 2022.
Usman Khan Replaces Saim Ayub
Usman Khan has been brought in as his replacement, presenting a major setback for Saim Ayub.
If Usman Khan delivers a strong performance, Ayub’s position in the team may be in jeopardy, potentially leading to Usman securing his place.
This comes as a huge blow to Saim Ayub just ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
