Not Rishabh, Nor Sanju; USA Captain Names His Favourite Indian Wicket-Keeper Batter
Monak Patel named the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman whose batting style matches his own.
In a recent interview, Captain Monak Patel of the USA revealed that he is a great admirer of Indian wicket-keeper-batter KL Rahul and that his playing style is exactly like his.
Monak Patel will be leading the USA in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. They are coming into the series with a lot of confidence after beating Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series.
In a recent interview with Sports Today, Monak Patel was asked to pick one between Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant, to which he said none of them, instead expressing his admiration for KL Rahul.
Monak Patel has scored 441 runs in 22 T20 innings so far and is heading into the T20 World Cup 2024, where he will be competing with some cricket greats. He will be looking to improve his numbers.
No Place for KL Rahul in T20 World Cup Squad
Notably, KL Rahul has not been picked in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. He had disappointing performances in the T20 World Cups of 2021 and 2022 in Australia.
Additionally, KL Rahul’s old-school batting style does not match modern-day T20 cricket, where batters are now playing with more aggression and a higher strike rate.
