South African batting legend AB de Villiers recently hosted Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam on his YouTube channel. The duo had an interesting conversation covering various topics.
The former South African batter asked Babar Azam about his future plans, to which the Pakistan skipper said that he is currently enjoying his cricket and is not considering retirement. For now, he is focused solely on his game.
Here is what Babar Azam said on AB de Villiers’ YouTube channel:
“I am just enjoying my cricket and taking things as they come. I do not think about when I will retire/stop. My focus is only on cricket. I don’t want to think too far ahead,” he added.
Babar Azam also revealed how his parents struggled to fulfil his wish of becoming a cricketer. He mentioned that he does not come from a very wealthy family, but his family sacrificed a lot for him.
“We were not rich, and I am from an ordinary family. My parents had to sacrifice a lot to make me a cricketer. I started playing tennis ball cricket, and when I told my father about my interest in the game, he agreed to help me,” he added.
Babar Azam will be leading Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Green are placed in the first group alongside India, Canada, USA, and Ireland. The much-anticipated India versus Pakistan match will be played on June 9th in New York.
