Rahul Dravid Announces Resignation as Head Coach of Team India Amidst T20 World Cup 2024
Rahul Dravid confirmed T20 World Cup 2024 is his last tournament as India’s head coach.
Indian Head Coach Rahul Dravid has confirmed that the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 will be his final hurrah with the national team.
Dravid’s contract expires after the tournament, and he has opted not to reapply for the position. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already begun accepting applications for the role.
Speaking at a press conference before India’s opening match against Ireland, Rahul Dravid officially announced his decision. “This is my last tournament,” he declared.
Rahul Dravid’s Not Very Successful Tenure
Rahul Dravid took the reins following Ravi Shastri’s departure. His tenure has seen its share of success, including a T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final appearance, a World Test Championship final berth, and the 2023 World Cup campaign.
India thrived under Dravid’s leadership in Test cricket. They dominated home series and delivered exceptional performances overseas, including a drawn series in South Africa and victories in the West Indies and Bangladesh.
Rahul Dravid’s focus will now be on signing off with a bang. He will be aiming to guide India to victory in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Their campaign kicks off against Ireland on June 5th in New York.
