‘Learn How to Handle Big Match Pressure from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’ – Rashid Latif Advises Babar Azam

Rashid Latif wants Babar Azam to learn to handle pressure situations from greats like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Ahead of the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has suggested that skipper Babar Azam can learn from Indian batting stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma when it comes to handling pressure in big matches.

The much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan is set to take place on 9th June at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York and Latif believes the pressure on Azam might stem more from the rivalry than the World Cup itself.

“The focus is on the game on June 9 against India,” Latif told PTI. “Babar will be under a lot of pressure because of the game against India rather than performing in the World Cup.”

Rashid Latif believes that Babar Azam is an outstanding batter, but when it comes to leadership, he is yet to learn how to handle pressure in big matches.

“He might be one of the best batters in the world, but he needs to learn a lot as a captain and a leader,” Latif said. “They [Kohli and Sharma] know how to carry the game. As a batter, Babar is one of the best but as a captain and leader, there’s a lot that he needs to learn.”

Babar Azam stepped down from the all-formats captaincy of Pakistan after the disappointing performance of the team in the ODI World Cup 2023, which was held in India. However, he was reappointed as the captain of the white ball team before the T20 World Cup 2024.
