‘Pakistan Fans Will Wear Kohli’s Name Jersey, Not Babar or Shaheen’s When He Plays Here’ – Azhar Ali

Azhar Ali opened up on Virat Kohli’s craze in Pakistan.

Virat Kohli may not be a regular visitor to Pakistan, but his fan following in the neighbouring country is huge. Former Pakistan cricketer Azhar Ali believes Pakistani fans would shower Kohli with immense love if he were to play in their home stadiums.

India’s political tensions with Pakistan have restricted bilateral series between the two nations. Vurat Kohli, despite a limited experience of just 16 ODIs and 10 T20Is against Pakistan, has ruled the hearts of many Pakistan fans.

“The day Virat plays in Multan, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi, you will understand his craze in Pakistan,” Azhar Ali told the Indian Express.

“The fans in Pakistan will put Virat Kohli’s name and not Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi’s name on the back of their green jersey with 18 number,” he added.

‘I Prayer for Kohli for 3 Years’: Azhar Ali

Azhar even revealed that he prayed for Kohli’s return to form during his recent slump.

“I prayed for Virat Kohli for three years. I wanted him to return to form. When people criticize him, they should understand what he has done for 15 years. I haven’t seen anyone doing that,” he said.

Azhar Ali believes Kohli’s dedication to fitness, passion, and aggressive style of play makes him the fans favourite in Pakistan.

“We used to follow the athletes from the West to take inspiration in the fitness department, but we have Virat Kohli, and the youngsters are following him,” he said.
