ICC T20I Rankings: India Climbs to 2nd Spot in T20I Team Rankings; KL Rahul Slips To 3rd Spot Among Batsmen

Indian cricket team moved to second place in the latest released T20I Rankings by International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday.

Team India, on Wednesday climbed up to the second spot in ICC T20I Team Rankings as Australia slipped to the third position following their 3-2 defeat against New Zealand in the recent five-match T20I series. Virat Kohli’s men are currently ranked first in the longest format and second in the 50-over format.

England is currently sitting at the top position as they are seven points ahead of Team India. Both teams would be clashing out against each other in the upcoming five-match T20I series, starting from Friday and India have a chance to close the gap and clinch the top spot in the shortest format.

As long as T20I batsmen rankings are concerned, Australia skipper Aaron Finch has moved to the second spot after showing impressive performances with the willow in the series against the Black Caps and KL Rahul has slipped to third spot. New Zealand opener Martin Guptill has broken into the top ten; taking the eight spot. Guptill managed to score 218 runs from five innings, with 97 being his best score.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has also slipped one place and is now sitting on fourth spot. He is followed by South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen, India’s Virat Kohli and Australia’s Glenn Maxwell – all three have retained their respective slots.

Talking about bowling rankings, Australia’s Ashton Agar has also entered the top five, rising four slots to become the No. 4 ranked T20I bowler. The Melbourne-lad picked up eight scalps, with 6/30 being his best.

New Zealand tweaker Ish Sodhi, who finished the series against Australia as the leading wicket-taker has also risen three spots to claim the eighth position. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi are currently number one ranked bowler and all-rounder respectively.
