Shakib Al Hasan Becomes First Player to Complete 50 Wickets in T20 World Cup History

Shakib Al Hasan achieved this feat against India in the super 8 Clash.

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan achieved a milestone on Saturday, June 22, at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, becoming the first bowler to claim 50 wickets in T20 World Cup history.

The Bangladesh all-rounder achieved this milestone during the Super 8 clash with India, dismissing Indian captain Rohit Sharma in his second over. Rohit looked in great touch, scoring 23 runs from 11 balls before Shakib Al Hasan cut short his stay in the middle.

Former Pakistan bowler Saeed Ajmal rounds out the top five with 36 wickets. So far in this T20 World Cup, Shakib has claimed only three wickets. Bangladesh advanced to the Super 8 stage by finishing second in Group D, behind South Africa.
