Bangladesh to Play Seven Test Matches to Prepare for WTC Following T20 World Cup 2024

Bangladesh is set to play seven Test matches to prepare for WTC series against India, South Africa.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that the national team will participate in seven red-ball games to prepare themselves for a demanding Test schedule and to focus on the World Test Championship (WTC) instead of T20Is.

During their 2023-25 WTC cycle, Bangladesh will face South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan, and India in Test series. Next month, the Test players will participate in three four-day matches in Chattogram, followed by two four-day games against Pakistan A in Darwin from July 19 to 29.

The Bangladesh A team is set to travel to Pakistan for two four-day games in August, while New Zealand A plans to visit Bangladesh later in August or September.

Bangladesh’s senior men’s squad is slated to travel to Pakistan on August 17 for a two-match Test series. After Pakistan, they are scheduled to compete in two Tests against India in Chennai and Kanpur, and then proceed to play three T20Is.

Bangladesh to Tour India Twice

According to ESPNcricinfo, Bangladesh could potentially visit India twice within three months if the BCB accepts the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s revised proposal, which includes two white-ball matches scheduled for late July. The ACB has suggested hosting three ODIs and three T20Is at Greater Noida as part of their updated plan.

The tour was initially postponed in March due to Bangladesh’s workload in 2024, but with the Champions Trophy now added to their calendar, the BCB is considering rescheduling the tour as they currently only have three ODIs scheduled.
