Rohit Sharma is Overweight and a Flat-Track Bully: Former South Africa cricketer

Rohit Sharma Called Overweight and a Flat-Track Bully by Former South Africa Cricketer Daryll Cullinan.

Former South African cricketer Daryll Cullinan has raised questions about Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s fitness and form. He called Rohit “overweight” and a “flat-track bully,” while comparing him to former skipper Virat Kohli. Cullinan believes that Rohit lacks the physical fitness needed to perform well in long Test series.

Rohit’s performance in 2024 has been disappointing. The Indian opener has managed to score only 597 runs in 23 innings, averaging just 27.14. In his last six Test matches, his form has been worse, with only 142 runs at an average of 11.83. During this period, Rohit has crossed the 25-run mark only once.

Cullinan also pointed out Rohit’s struggle with the short ball, particularly in overseas conditions like South Africa. “Every time Rohit has played here, he seems uncomfortable against the short-pitched deliveries,” said Cullinan. He added that Rohit’s recent move to the middle order, instead of opening the innings, is not helping either.

India’s Struggles Under Rohit’s Leadership

India has lost their last four Test matches with Rohit as captain. In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, the series is tied at 1-1. Rohit’s poor form with the bat hasn’t helped India’s chances, especially in challenging conditions away from home.

The third Test will be played at the Gabba on December 14, and the pressure is on India to bounce back. Rohit’s critics believe he needs to step up and lead by example if India wants to turn their fortunes around in the series.
