SA20 2025 Match 22: Joburg Super Kings vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape – Match Highlights and Scorecard

Joburg Super Kings defeated Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 9 wickets in the 22nd match of the SA20 2025.

In the 22nd match of the SA20 2025, Joburg Super Kings (JSK) thrashed Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) by nine wickets, taking sweet revenge for their earlier defeat at the hands of the defending champions. This emphatic victory not only marked a turning point for JSK but also earned them a bonus point, making it a perfect day at the office.

JSK were elated with their performance, especially after a string of three consecutive losses. The chase was set up perfectly by Devon Conway, who played a mature and calculated knock. While Faf du Plessis fell early, trying to accelerate the chase, Conway took charge and partnered with Wihan Lubbe to wrap up the chase by the 14th over. The Sunrisers’ bowlers were unable to pose any significant challenge, as JSK comfortably reached 119-1 in 14 overs, with Conway finishing unbeaten on 76 off 56 balls and Lubbe contributing with a quickfire 25 off 17 balls.

Earlier, SEC’s batting performance was a disappointing one, as they were bowled out for a mere 118 runs in 19 overs. Zak Crawley, Tom Abell, and Jordan Hermann were dismissed without troubling the scorers much, while Aiden Markram also fell cheaply. The only little fightback came from David Bedingham, who top-scored with 48 runs. However, it wasn’t enough as JSK’s bowlers, led by Lutho Sipamla and Hardus Viljoen, ran riot. Sipamla claimed 3 wickets for 13 runs, while Viljoen took 4 wickets for 24 runs, as Sunrisers Eastern Cape crumbled under the pressure.

Despite some late heroics from Tristan Stubbs (37 off 38 balls), it was clear that SEC were well below their best on the day.
