Afghanistan Spinner Allah Ghazanfar Ruled Out of Champions Trophy and IPL 2025
Allah Ghazanfar will remain out of cricket action for atleast four months.
Afghanistan’s young spinner Allah Ghazanfar will not play in the ICC Champions Trophy and IPL 2025. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed that he will be out for at least four months due to an injury.
Injury and Recovery
Ghazanfar suffered a fracture in his L4 vertebra during Afghanistan’s recent tour of Zimbabwe. He will need medical treatment and rest for four months. Because of this, he will miss the Champions Trophy and the IPL season.
The injury is a big setback for Mumbai Indians (MI), who bought him for Rs 4.80 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 18-year-old spinner was expected to play in the starting XI for the Hardik Pandya-led team.
Squad Changes for Afghanistan
With Ghazanfar ruled out, Afghanistan has added Nangyal Kharoti to the main squad. He was earlier in the reserves list. The team will also miss Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who is still recovering from his injury.
Mumbai Indians’ Spin Options
Without Ghazanfar, Mumbai Indians will depend on Mitchell Santner and Karn Sharma for spin bowling in IPL 2025. The team will have to adjust their plans as they prepare for the tournament.
