Babar Azam in Danger? Shubman Gill & Rohit Sharma Eye No.1 Spot in ODI Rankings!

Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma are closing in on Babar Azam’s No.1 ODI ranking, while Virat Kohli slips to sixth in the latest ICC rankings update.

India’s young opener Shubman Gill is on the verge of dethroning Pakistan’s Babar Azam from the top spot in the ICC ODI batting rankings. Following his consistent performances against England, Gill has climbed to No.2 with 781 rating points, just five points behind Babar (786).

Shubman Gill and Rohit Challenge Babar for Top Spot

Gill is not alone in the race for the No.1 position. India captain Rohit Sharma, who smashed a century in the second ODI against England, has also moved up to third place with 783 points—just three points shy of the Pakistan batter.

With the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the UAE just a week away, the battle for the top ranking has intensified. However, Rohit missed an opportunity to further close the gap as he was dismissed for just one run in the third ODI against England in Ahmedabad.

Virat Kohli Slips to No.6

Meanwhile, former India captain Virat Kohli dropped from fourth to sixth place after missing the first ODI due to a niggle and failing to make an impact in the second game. Kohli will now look to bounce back in the upcoming matches to regain his lost ground.
