Ellyse Perry played a stunning knock to rescue Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCBW) after a shaky start against Mumbai Indians Women (MIW) in their Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 clash at M. Ellyse Perry’s Counterattack Lifts RCBW
RCB Women got off to a strong start with Smriti Mandhana scoring a quick 26 off 13 balls. However, wickets started falling regularly, putting pressure on the team. Danielle Wyatt-Hodge (9), Raghvi Bist (1), Kanika Ahuja (3), and Richa Ghosh (28) failed to capitalize, leaving RCB struggling at 107/5 in the 14th over.
With wickets falling around her, Perry took charge and played a counterattacking knock. She smashed 11 fours and 2 sixes in her 43-ball innings, scoring at a strike rate of 188.37. Her late acceleration helped RCBW cross the 160-run mark.
Mumbai’s Bowlers Struggle to Contain Perry
Mumbai Indians Women’s bowlers had an inconsistent outing. While Amanjot Kaur was the standout performer, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs in 3 overs, the rest struggled with their economy. Nat Sciver-Brunt (1/40) and Shabnim Ismail (1/36) were expensive, while Hayley Matthews (1/37) and Amelia Kerr (0/28) couldn’t contain Perry’s aggressive batting.
Despite Perry’s dismissal in the final over, her knock ensured RCBW finished with a competitive total. Mumbai Indians Women now face the challenge of chasing 168 in this intense WPL rivalry.
