AUS vs ENG: Australia Pull Off Highest-Ever Run-Chase in ICC Tournaments, Stun England

Australia chased down the target of 352 runs against England.

Australia pulled off a historic run chase against England in Lahore, successfully chasing 352 runs in 47.3 overs—the highest-ever successful chase in ICC tournaments. This record-breaking feat surpassed Pakistan’s 345-run chase against Sri Lanka in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

This is also Australia’s second-highest successful run chase in ODIs, just behind their 359-run chase against India in Jaipur in 2013. Additionally, it is now their highest-ever successful chase against England, making it a landmark moment in their rivalry.

Highest Run-Chases in ICC Events:

  • 356/5 by Australia v England in Lahore, TODAY**
  • 345/4 by Pakistan v Sri Lanka, Hyderabad 2023.
  • 329/7 by Ireland v England, Bengaluru 2011.
  • 322/4 by Bangladesh v Scotland, Nelson 2015.

Josh Inglis played a sensational knock, scoring an unbeaten 120 off 86 balls. Matthew Short (63 off 66) and Alex Carey (69 off 63) provided valuable contributions, while Glenn Maxwell finished the game in style with a quick 32 off 15 balls.

England had earlier posted 351/8, with Ben Duckett scoring a brilliant 165 off 143 balls. Joe Root (68) and Jos Buttler (23) also chipped in, but their bowling unit struggled to stop Australia’s aggressive batting approach.

With this record-breaking chase, Australia start their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign on a high note. England, on the other hand, will have to bounce back quickly after failing to defend a massive total.
