Delhi Capitals Bring in England’s World Cup-Winning Coach for IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals (DC) have added a big name to their coaching staff for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Former England head coach Matthew Mott has joined as an assistant coach. Mott is known for his success in cricket coaching.

Matthew Mott’s Coaching Journey

Mott has years of experience in coaching. He started as the head coach of the Australian Women’s team in 2015. Under his guidance, they won the T20 World Cup in 2020. Later, in 2022, he was appointed as the head coach of England’s white-ball team.

His biggest achievement came in 2022, when he led England to victory in the T20 World Cup, defeating Pakistan in the final. However, after England’s poor performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup, he was removed from the role.

Now, he has joined Delhi Capitals and will help the team in the upcoming IPL season.

Delhi Capitals Announce the Appointment

Delhi Capitals shared the news on X (formerly Twitter). They welcomed Mott with a post that said:

Apart from Mott, Delhi Capitals have made more changes to their support staff. Hemang Badani will be the new head coach, while Venugopal Rao has been appointed as the director of cricket.

Delhi Capitals Aim for Their First IPL Trophy

Delhi Capitals have never won an IPL title. In the 2024 season, they finished sixth in the points table with seven wins and seven losses from 14 matches.

With these new coaching changes, Delhi Capitals hope to perform better and win their first IPL trophy in 2025.
