South Africa & Australia Caught in ICC’s Scheduling Blunder – Travel Woes Before Semi-Finals!
South Africa and Australia are forced to travel to Dubai for the Champions Trophy semi-finals, but one team must return to Pakistan the very next day!

The Champions Trophy semi-finals are scheduled in two different countries. This has led to a travel problem for teams in Group B, which includes Australia and South Africa. Both teams are likely to fly to Dubai on Saturday.
Why Are Teams Traveling?
The International Cricket Council (ICC) decided this to give more time to the team that plays its semi-final in Dubai on March 4. But this also means one team will have to travel unnecessarily. A team might leave Pakistan for Dubai and then return to Pakistan the next day.
The second semi-final in Lahore will be played on March 5. However, because of how the schedule is made, one team will spend time at a venue where they do not need to play.
Australia and South Africa’s Journey
Australia has already qualified for the semi-finals. They are traveling to Dubai after their game against Afghanistan in Lahore was abandoned.
South Africa is also likely to qualify. If they do, they will leave Karachi for Dubai after their match against England. If Afghanistan qualifies instead of South Africa, they will also travel to Dubai quickly.
India’s Role in the Uncertainty
The final group match between India and New Zealand on Sunday will decide the semi-final matchups. India will play in Dubai, no matter what. This means the two Group B teams will know their semi-final venue only after India’s match.
India is not playing in Pakistan because of political issues. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wanted India to play in Lahore, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said their government did not allow it.
Where Will the Final Be Played?
The final venue also depends on India’s performance.
- If India wins their semi-final, the final will be in Dubai.
- If India loses, the final will be in Lahore at Gaddafi Stadium.
This situation shows how the tournament schedule has created travel confusion for some teams.
