“Rohit Sharma Doesn’t Deserve a Spot in Team India!” – TMC MP Joins Congress Leader in Attack

TMC MP Saugata Roy backed Congress leader Shama Mohamed's criticism of Rohit Sharma, stating that the Indian captain shouldn’t even be in the team.

The controversy over Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has taken a new turn. After Congress leader Shama Mohamed criticized Rohit Sharma’s fitness and leadership, TMC MP Saugata Roy backed her statement. He claimed that Rohit should not even be part of Team India.

TMC MP Supports Congress Leader

Speaking about Shama Mohamed’s remarks, TMC MP Saugata Roy said:

“What the Congress leader has said is right… Rohit Sharma shouldn’t even be in the team.”

His statement has added fuel to the ongoing debate between the Congress and BJP over Rohit Sharma.

Shama Mohamed’s Controversial Comments

The controversy started when Shama Mohamed posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying:

“Rohit Sharma is fat for a sportsman! Need to lose weight! And of course, the most unimpressive Captain India has ever had.”

She later deleted the post but continued to defend her opinion. She claimed her remarks were “generic” and asked, “What is wrong in saying this? It is a democracy.”

BJP Criticizes Congress

Shama Mohamed’s remarks did not go well with Rohit Sharma’s fans and political leaders. The BJP strongly condemned her words, accusing her of “body-shaming” the Indian captain. They also took a dig at the Congress, saying:

“A party that has lost 90 elections under Rahul Gandhi is calling Rohit Sharma’s captaincy unimpressive!”

Shama Mohamed Stands by Her Words

Despite the backlash, Mohamed defended her statement. She told ANI:

“It was a general comment about the fitness of a sportsperson, not body-shaming. I always believed a sportsman should be fit, and I felt he was a bit overweight. I just tweeted about that. I have been attacked for no reason. I have the right to speak.”

India’s Victory Over New Zealand

This controversy came after Rohit Sharma led Team India to a 44-run victory over New Zealand in Dubai. The win helped India finish at the top of Group A in the Champions Trophy.

While debates over Rohit Sharma’s fitness and leadership continue, his on-field performance remains the best answer to his critics.
