AB de Villiers To Make International Comeback? Here Is What Mark Boucher Hinted

Mark Boucher has also revealed the conversation he had with the star RCB batsman AB de Villiers ahead of the IPL 2021.

It has been a time when the rumours regarding AB de Villiers comeback to International Cricket were touching the sky. For some months in the build-up to the ICC T20 World Cup 2020, there were talks that the former South African cricketer will come out of retirement and will feature for his national team once again. However, the tournament was postponed and the talks went away with time.

Meanwhile, South Africa head coach Mark Boucher has again hinted at the possible return of AB de Villiers to the South Africa national side for ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The former South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman has also revealed about the conversation he had with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star ahead of the IPL 2021.

Boucher has said that his conversation with AB de Villiers over the matter is still open — and he is going to have a chat with AB de Villiers after the end of IPL 2021.

“I did chat to him before he went to the IPL,” Boucher said.

“The conversation is still very much open. AB being the person he is, he wanted to perform very well at the IPL, to prove to himself and everyone else that he is still a very key figure in world cricket and could dominate at that level.

“I said to him: ‘go do your thing, and I’ll give you a shout towards the back end of the IPL.’ So that is where we are with him,” Boucher told reporters according to South Africa website timeslive.co.za.

Notably, AB de Villiers is currently in India for Indian Premier League 2021. He started the season with wonderful innings against Mumbai Indians in the opening match of the season. He scored 48 runs from 27 balls, showing all his class during a thriller. Playing in his first competitive match in five months de Villiers smashed boundaries all around the ground before getting run-out in an unlucky way.

Talking about South Africa, the team is currently playing a 4-match T20I series against Pakistan on their home soil. The visitors Pakistan have taken a 2-1 lead in the three T20Is so far. However, the South Africa team is also short of their crucial players like Kagiso Rababa, Anrich Nortje, David Miller, and Quinton de Kock, who are busy with their commitments in IPL 2021.
