Mumbai Indians Women defeated Delhi Capitals Women by 8 runs in the Final of the WPL 2025.
Mumbai Indians Women won the WPL 2025 final by 8 runs against Delhi Capitals Women at the Brabourne Stadium on March 15. With this win, MI lifted their second WPL title. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals suffered their third consecutive defeat in the WPL final.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians Women got off to a poor start, losing Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia early. Harmanpreet Kaur then played a captain’s knock, scoring 66 runs off 44 balls, which included nine fours and two sixes.
Nat Sciver-Brunt supported her with 30 runs off 28 balls. Amanjot Kaur’s late cameo of 14* from 7 balls helped MI post 149/7 in 20 overs. Marizanne Kapp was the best bowler for Delhi, taking 2 wickets for just 11 runs in her four overs.
In reply, Delhi Capitals Women also lost early wickets, with Meg Lanning, Shafali Verma, and Jess Jonassen dismissed inside the powerplay. Jemimah Rodrigues (30 off 21) and Marizanne Kapp (40 off 26) tried to rebuild, but MI bowlers kept the pressure on.
Nat Sciver-Brunt was the star with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for 30 runs. Amelia Kerr and Hayley Matthews also chipped in with key breakthroughs.
Despite Niki Prasad’s unbeaten 25 off 23 balls, Delhi fell short, managing only 141/9 in 20 overs. Shabnim Ismail and Saika Ishaque bowled tight spells, ensuring MI’s victory.
With this win, Harmanpreet Kaur and her team successfully defended their title and cemented their dominance in the WPL.
