IPL 2025: Mayank Yadav Not Alone as Two More LSG Pacers Unlikely to Play Opening Matches

LSG is facing injury troubles as Mayank Yadav, Akash Deep, and Avesh Khan are likely to miss the first few matches of IPL 2025.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is about to begin, and teams are getting ready. However, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are facing problems with their fast bowlers.

Mayank Yadav’s Injury

Mayank Yadav, a fast bowler for LSG, became famous for his speed and accuracy. Unfortunately, he got injured before the T20I tour of South Africa in November 2024. He is now recovering at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Mayank has started bowling again but is not yet fully fit. He is expected to join the team in April.

Avesh Khan’s Fitness Issues

Another concern for LSG is Avesh Khan. He has not received clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) due to fitness issues. Avesh will join the team only after getting approval from the NCA.

Akash Deep’s Back Injury

Akash Deep is also dealing with a back injury he suffered during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He has not joined the LSG camp yet and is likely to miss the first few matches of IPL 2025.

Backup Plans: Shardul Thakur and Shivam Mavi

To address these challenges, LSG has included Shardul Thakur and Shivam Mavi in their practice sessions. Both players went unsold in the mega auction but are now practicing with the team. If any of the injured fast bowlers are ruled out, LSG can quickly sign Thakur and Mavi as replacements.

Upcoming Match

LSG is scheduled to play against Delhi Capitals in their opening match on March 24. The team hopes their injured players recover soon to strengthen their squad for the tournament.

Injuries are a part of sports, and LSG is working hard to manage these challenges as they prepare for IPL 2025.
