IPL 2025: 3 Players Who Could Replace Lockie Ferguson in Punjab Kings
With Lockie Ferguson ruled out, Punjab Kings could turn to Matt Henry, Naveen-ul-Haq, or Richard Gleeson as possible replacements.

Punjab Kings have a big task ahead as their lead fast bowler, Lockie Ferguson, has been ruled out of the rest of IPL 2025.
He got injured during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. While bowling his first over, Ferguson stopped suddenly and held his left leg below the hip. He didn’t return to bowl again, which confirmed the injury was serious.
Now that he is out of the tournament, Punjab Kings will have to look for a replacement. Although the options are limited, there are still a few quality pacers available in the pool. Here are three names Punjab Kings could look at:
1. Matt Henry
Matt Henry has been in great form recently. He went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, but now he’s making a strong case for himself with his performance in the Champions Trophy 2025. In just three matches, he has picked up eight wickets at an economy rate of 5.09.
The New Zealand fast bowler can bowl with the new ball and is also effective in the death overs. His ability to swing the ball and control runs makes him a solid option for Punjab Kings.
2. Naveen-ul-Haq
Naveen-ul-Haq was a regular part of the IPL in earlier seasons but went unsold in the last mega auction. Still, he remains a top performer in T20 leagues around the world.
The Afghan pacer is known for his clever variations and tight bowling in the middle and death overs. With Ferguson out, Punjab might bring in Naveen to balance their bowling attack and keep pressure on opposition batters in crucial phases of the game.
3. Richard Gleeson
Richard Gleeson is another good choice for Punjab Kings. He has a similar role to Lockie Ferguson — bowls at pace and hits hard lengths. His ability to bowl in tough conditions makes him a valuable T20 option.
In SA20 2025, Gleeson picked up 14 wickets in 13 games, with an average of 24.42 and an economy rate of 8.07. He also has IPL experience, having played for Chennai Super Kings last year.
