IPL Is The Best! Sam Billings Drops a Truth Bomb on PSL Fans

England cricketer Sam Billings said that IPL is way ahead of PSL and called it the best T20 league in the world.

England wicketkeeper-batter Sam Billings has called the Indian Premier League (IPL) the best T20 league in the world. He said that all other franchise leagues, including Pakistan Super League (PSL) and England’s The Hundred, are behind IPL.

Billings, who is currently playing for Lahore Qalandars in PSL 2025, was asked about the comparison between PSL and IPL during a press conference.

Billings last played in the IPL in 2022. He has represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in the tournament.

When asked to compare PSL and IPL, the 33-year-old said, “You want me to say something silly? It’s hard to look past the IPL as the premier competition in the world, it’s very obvious, every other competition is just behind.”

He added that other leagues like The Hundred and Big Bash League are trying to reach the same level but are still not there yet.

Conversations around IPL often come up in PSL press conferences. Recently, David Warner, who is now leading Karachi Kings in PSL 2025, was also asked about Indian fans criticizing him for playing in PSL after going unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Warner responded by saying he wasn’t aware of such criticism and is focused on playing cricket.

“There’s an opportunity to come to PSL. My international calendar didn’t allow me to come earlier. Now, I want to compete, captain Karachi Kings, and hopefully win the trophy,” he said.

As things stand, Billings’ team Lahore Qalandars is in second place on the PSL 2025 points table with two wins from three matches. Karachi Kings are fourth with one win and one loss.

Islamabad United are on top of the points table with back-to-back victories.
