Harsha Bhogle Breaks Silence for the First Time After Being Banned from Commentary by CAB

Harsha Bhogle clears the air on rumours about his commentary ban by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has responded to rumours that he has been banned by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for Kolkata Knight Riders’ home games in IPL 2025. He clarified that these reports are false and based on wrong assumptions.

The issue began after Bhogle and former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull criticised the pitch conditions at Eden Gardens, prepared by CAB’s curator Sujan Mukherjee. Following this, reports surfaced that CAB had urged the BCCI to ban both commentators from KKR’s home matches.

However, Bhogle cleared the air through a post on “X” (formerly Twitter). He explained that he was only scheduled to commentate on two matches in Kolkata this season. While he was present for the first match, he missed the second due to a family illness.

“There are some inappropriate conclusions being drawn about why I wasn’t at yesterday’s game in Kolkata. Quite simply, it wasn’t on the list of matches I was down to do!” Bhogle wrote.

He added that the commentary schedule is prepared before the tournament begins, and his absence had nothing to do with the pitch controversy or any ban.

Bhogle’s clarification puts an end to the speculations that had been spreading online. It also reminds fans and media to verify facts before jumping to conclusions.
