MS Dhoni Becomes 1st Wicketkeeper To Achieve THIS Milestone In IPL

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni, on Wednesday became the first wicket-keeper to claim 150 dismissals in the Indian Premier League.

Dhoni took a running catch to dismiss Nitish Rana off Deepak Chahar’s bowling in the 5th over of KKR’s run chase to complete 150 dismissals in the tournament. It was his 111th catch in the tournament and has 39 stumpings to his name, which is the highest by any wicketkeeper in IPL.

Kolkata Knight Rider’s former captain Dinesh Karthik is second in this tally with 112 catches and 31 stumpings.

Talking about the catch, it didn’t look easy as Dhoni had to run some distance from behind the stumps towards square leg to complete the dismissal. Chahar bowled a slower ball which Rana looked to flick off his pads but only managed to top-edge the ball. Dhoni called for the catch and ran all the way to take it.

MS Dhoni Hits A Boundary Against Sunil Narine For 1st Time in IPL History

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni on Monday achieved another milestone as he hit his first boundary off Kolkata Knight Riders ace spinner Sunil Narine ever in the Indian Premier League. That too came off a free hit in the 17th over of the match. He slammed his first boundary off Narine while facing his 65th delivery.

In his cameo, the 39-year-old smashed two fours and a six. Unlike previous matches, MS Dhoni came to bat No. 4 but the veteran wicket-keeper batsman failed to score big again as he got out for just 17 runs off 8 balls off Andre Russell’s penultimate over. Eoin Morgan took a splendid catch to get rid of Dhoni.

Earlier in the evening, CSK managed to post the second highest total of this season as they reached 220 for 3 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first by Eoin Morgan.

The three-time champions got off to a great start thanks to the openers Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who added 115 runs before the latter got out for 64. Du Plessis then took a back seat for a while as Moeen Ali (25) and MS Dhoni (17) played small cameos before launching an attack in the death overs to end up with 95 not out off 60 balls.

Kolkata Knight Riders, in reply failed to chase down the target and lost the match by 18 runs. Pat Cummins (66* off 34), Andre Russell (54 off 22) and Dinesh Karthik (40 off 24) played a brilliant knock for KKR but failed to take them over finishing line.
