IPL 2021, DC vs RCB: Amit Mishra Receives A Warning From Umpire; Here Is The Reason

IPL 2021: Amit Mishra has received a warning from Umpire during Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore - Match 22.

Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra has become the first player in the ongoing season of the India Premier League to receive a warning for applying saliva on the ball. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced BCCI to implement multiple health safety protocols to avoid any outbreak that can put the entire tournament in jeopardy and “not” applying saliva on the ball is one such rule.

“Rishabh, first warning for using saliva,” said on-field umpire Virender Sharma.

Players are strictly prohibited from using saliva in the ongoing cash-rich league. In case a player does that, the ball has to be sanitized before being used again.

Here it is worth mentioning that it was not Amit Mishra’s first time. He did this in his previous match too, which was against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The senior leg-spinner had an expensive start to his spell as he conceded 11 runs in his first over. Glenn Maxwell got into the act as he hit Mishra for a maximum into the long-off stands. However, the leggie returned stronger in his next over and got the Australian all-rounder caught by Steve Smith at long-on.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Capitals have won the toss and opted to bowl against RCB at the brand new Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Both teams made changes to their playing XI for the IPL 2021 match in Ahmedabad. The Capitals have brought in veteran pacer Ishant Sharma in place of Ravichandran Ashwin. RCB, on the other hand, made a couple of changes for the DC clash. Navdeep Saini has been replaced by Rajat Patidar while Daniel Sams has been included in the line-up, in place of Dan Christian.
