Don’t Like Test Cricket But I Watch It When Rishabh Pant Comes To Bat: Tymal Mills

Following the cancellation of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the cricket schedule for the next few months promises to be exciting for cricket world, specially for Test cricket fans.

Virat Kohli and boys will soon depart for the United Kingdom to play New Zealand in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, followed by a much-anticipated five-match Test series against England.

Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, has been in a brilliant form in red-ball cricket, and more of the same is expected from the young batsman in the upcoming months.

The 23-year-old played a vital role in India’s historic 2-1 win against Australia in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He smashed 89 runs in the final of the four-match series and helped the visitors to breach the Gabba Fortress.

Meanwhile, Tymal Mills, an England paceman who made his international debut against India and then signed an IPL contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), has stated that while he is not too fond of Test cricket, he is glued to the TV sets when Pant is batting.

Speaking to Timesnownews.com Mills shared his views on the Test series played between India and England earlier this year which was won by Kohli’s men 3-1.

“I only play white-ball cricket, I don’t play four-day cricket due to injuries. In general, I don’t like watching traditional Test cricket but when Rishabh Pant comes to bat in a test match, I am watching. It’s exciting isn’t it, its box office, it makes you want to watch the TV.

He played a couple of eye-catching innings which was good to see. I like entertaining cricket. Even that first pitch in Ahmedabad when it was turning square, I liked it because there was something happening every ball. I personally really enjoyed the Test series.” 

Rishabh Pant will once again be the key to India’s fortunes in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand and the five-match Test series against England. The Indian team and its billion fans would be hoping for Pant to emulate his exploits of the last winter.
