“Up To Selectors” – David Warner Replied When Fan Asked The Australian To Come Back Stronger In IPL 2021

The decision to drop David Warner came after the SRH team 2021 lost their 5th match with David Warner as the captain.

David Warner, one of the big-name from T20 cricket has recently represented SunRisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2021 in India before the tournament was suspended due to COVID-19. The veteran cricketer had a poor run, scoring 193 runs in six matches at a low strike rate of 110.28. He was sacked as captain during the edition and was replaced by Kane Williamson.

Before the tournament was postponed, SRH was at the bottom of the eight-team table with one win and six defeats. IPL 2021 was postponed after several players and support staff members across teams tested positive for COVID-19. The remainder of the league will be played in the UAE in September and October.

Recently, the official Instagram handle of the SunRisers Hyderabad shared a beautiful picture of Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium with a caption – “Those Days, #OrangeArmy”

While many SRH fans reacted to the mesmerizing picture, few have written beautiful messages for the former captain of Hyderabad, David Warner. Not just this, Warner himself read the messages of his fans on the pictures and gave replies to his fans.

One of his fans wrote – “Warner sir please come back stronger, we are waiting for you.” To this, Warner replied – “Up to selectors”

Here it is to be noted that the decision to drop Warner came after the SRH team 2021 lost their 5th match with David Warner as the captain. The Sunrisers struggled to find a winning combination of players from the start. The problem came into the picture due to an abundance of good overseas players and a shortage of dependable Indian players which saw the team win only 1 out of their 7 matches.

The decision to drop Warner, although a logical one, did not go well with the fans. Fans were disappointed after their 6th loss and slammed the selectors and management. Fans were so furious with the SRH management that the hashtag #SackManagementSaveSRH was trending on Twitter with fans challenging the decision to drop Warner, a player who is so deeply passionate about his franchise.

Earlier, the newly appointed captain Kane Williamson has also said that he will be discussing with the management the matter of bringing back Warner in the playing XI after their loss against the Rajasthan Royals. However, after that, the IPL 2021 was postponed.

Also, SRH’s Director of Cricket Operations Tom Moody revealed that David Warner was disappointed after receiving the news of losing the captaincy and not playing against the Rajasthan Royals.

The availability of David Warner and Kane Williamson in the remaining part of the IPL 2021 is under doubt as both are committed to international duties and this opens up another dilemma in the Sunrisers squad. The sacking of David Warner will certainly haunt them if Kane Williamson isn’t available and they will have to look for other options.
