CSK CEO Says MS Dhoni Can “Continue For Another Two Years” In The IPL

CSK skipper and former Indian captain MS Dhoni turned 40 on Wednesday, however, CSK management sees him playing for a few years more.

The former India skipper took retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020 and left fans disheartened. However, fans can still witness their hero in yellow jersey when he plays for Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League.

Meanwhile, a piece of good news is coming for all MS Dhoni fans. Recently, the CEO of CSK Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that former Indian skipper Dhoni will play for the franchise for more couple of years.

The legendary wicket-keeper batsman, who confirmed in CSK’s last game in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that it ‘definitely wasn’t‘ his last game in the IPL, led CSK in the 14th edition of the tournament.

Speaking on CSK skipper, who turned 40 on Wednesday, and his future with the franchise to the news agency IANS, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said:

“He can continue for another one or two years with CSK. He is fully fit, trains a lot. Don’t see any reason why he should stop.”

Viswanathan further added that it is just not about his captaincy that is valuable to the franchise but his experience in guiding the team through to finish games is equally important to CSK.

“As far we are concerned, we are happy for what he is doing for CSK. It is not just about his captaincy or the fact that he is guide or a leader as the most experienced player. We feel he is still good and brings value as a player to the side. He has been a finisher and is doing that for us,” added Viswanathan.

Dhoni may not be in his top form with the bat as he let the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Moeen Ali take the onus with the bat ahead of him, the wicket-keeper batsman still remains a threat to be reckoned with behind the stumps and as far as captaincy and his tactics on the field are concerned.

He will continue to lead the three-time champions in the remaining matches of the 2021 edition of the IPL, which is scheduled to take place in the UAE in September-October.

With the strong middle order, CSK now has the potential of putting 200+ scores consistently. Fortunes completely changed for CSK in IPL after their middle-order batting got strong. Currently they are placed at second spot in the points table with 5 wins from 7 matches.
