IPL 2021: Mike Hesson Replaces Simon Katich As RCB Head Coach

RCB head coach Simon Katich has stepped down as head coach of the IPL side due to personal reasons.

Ahead of the resumption of the second phase of the Indian Premier League 2021 in UAE, the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday made several changes to their squad, having signed three replacement players – Wanindu Hasaranga, Dusmantha Chameera and Tim David.

In another development, Simon Katich stepped down as head coach of the RCB due to personal reasons and now Mike Hesson will lead the responsibility.

“Tim David from Australia has come in as a replacement for New Zealand’s Finn Allen and Sri Lanka’s pacer Dushmantha Chameera replaced Daniel Sams of Australia,” stated a media release from the RCB.”

“In another significant development, Simon Katich stepped down as the Head Coach of RCB due to personal reasons and as part of our business continuity plan Mike Hesson will step in and discharge the duties of Head Coach for this season, in addition to his existing role of Director of Cricket Operations, RCB,” the release said.

However, it is not yet confirmed whether Simon Katich has only pulled out of the second leg of the IPL 2021 or will he not return for next season as well.
