SA vs ENG: I Am 100% In Support Of ‘Black Lives Matter’, But Team Has Decided to Not Kneel – Kagiso Rabada

South Africa’s coach, Mark Boucher has announced that the team will not take the knee ahead of the series against England. Now the Proteas pacer Kagiso Rabada has reiterated his words to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Rabada said that he will always stand with the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. However, about not taking a knee ahead of the series against England, the South-African pacer said that it is the team’s decision and they all have to follow it.

“Black Lives Matter is one-hundred per cent something I will always stand for and I speak for myself,” Kagiso Rabada said.

“It was a team decision not to kneel and to look at gender-based violence and devote ourselves to another cause. However, Black Lives Matter will always be relevant and something I will always believe in and I speak for myself there. But, Mark has stated that the team will not be kneeling and that’s how it’s going to be.”

Team South Africa Will Not Take The Knee: Mark Boucher

Earlier this week, the South-African coach Mark Boucher had revealed that his team will not take the knee before the white-ball cricket home series against England. At the same time, he also said that there is a possibility that the team could wear a black armband.

“I have spoken to the guy (Lungi Ngidi) who was driving the whole movement within our set-up, he is pretty happy that we have done what we needed to do, in particular at that (3TC) game. There are a couple of other issues that our president has raised going forward with regards to gender-based violence and the victims of Covid19.

“It’s an ongoing thing for us. It’s not something that we have to continue to show. It’s something that you have to live. That is exactly what we are trying to do our dressing room at the moment with a big squad,” Boucher said.

Further speaking on the life in the bio-secure bubbles, Rabada said that it feels like living in luxurious prisons. He, however, said that they all are fortunate to play in such times.

“You’ve basically lost your freedom. It’s almost like luxury prisons that we’re in.

“You have to remind yourself that we are fortunate. People have lost their jobs, people are struggling at the moment. So I just try to remind myself that we must be grateful for the opportunity that has been given to us. First of all to earn some money, and second of all to do what we love,” Rabada said.
