ENG vs IND: England Announce Playing XI For 5th Test vs Team India, One big Change Announced
India were leading the series 2-1 last year before the final Test was abandoned owing to a COVID-19 outbreak in the visitors’ camp.
England, on Thursday, announced their playing XI for the rescheduled fifth Test against India, starting from Friday (July 1) at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
The star English fast bowler James Anderson, who was rested for the third and final Test against New Zealand, is making a comeback into the XI. He will replace Jamie Overton and will lead the pace attack alongside Stuart Broad.
Sam Billings, who was drafted into England’s playing XI after Ben Foakes was tested positive for Covid-19 will be handling the wicket-keeping duties.
England’s playing XI against India for a one-off Test:
England XI: Zak Crawley, Alex Lees, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (C), Sam Billings (wk), Matthew Potts, Stuart Broad, Jack Leach, James Anderson
Meanwhile, India are yet to announce their playing XI for the one-off Test as the team is still waiting for an update on skipper Rohit Sharma’s health.
With vice-captain KL Rahul already ruled out of the 5th Test due to groin injury, pace ace Jasprit Bumrah is expected to lead the Virat Kohli-starrer side in the absence of the all-format captain and his deputy.
