‘He Can Cost Joe Burns His Grieve’- Shane Warne Blasts Umpire Bruce Oxenford

Shane Warne slammed the umpiring in the first Test match between India and Australia. Warne mentioned two decisions that as seen debatable by him given by Bruce Oxenford.

Former Australia great Shane Warne, on Friday slammed the umpiring in the first Test match between India and Australia Shane Warne’s reactions to cricket keep coming.

The second day of the first Test between the two sides ended by India gaining the upper hand, taking a handy 62-run lead. Warne felt that umpire Bruce Oxenford made plenty of errors that could prove decisive.

Shane Warne mentioned two decisions that as seen debatable by him given by Bruce Oxenford. One of those occurred in the 63rd over when it looked like Ravichandran Ashwin had trapped Nathan Lyon in front of the stumps, but the ball had taken a significant edge of the bat. The decision got overturned from out to not out as Lyon took the Decision Review System (DRS).

While the move to give Joe Burns out turned out to be umpire’s call, it missed the stump via the naked eye.

“To me when you watch that life it was always going down the legside a little bit, but because of umpire’s call it is still in play, and that was maybe just hitting or maybe just missing. But because he gave him out, it’s going down the legs, and maybe it is clipping and it is given.

Shane Warne further said that Bruce Oxenford could cost Joe Burns his career and while he opined that nobody likes making mistakes, the 145-Test veteran criticised the umpire for making too many.

“He can cost Joe Burns his grieve, all these mistakes. No one likes to make mistakes and you don’t want to pick on an umpire. But he has made too many in my opinion in this game,” Shane Warne said while doing commentary for Sony.
