Chasing the target of 163 runs from Mumbai, Chennai team won with 4 balls remaining. A 100-run partnership between Faf Du Plessis(58*) and Ambati Rayudu (71) for the third wicket set the victory for Chennai after losing two wickets in the beginning.
The toss was won by Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and he offered Mumbai to bat first. Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians scored 162 runs losing 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. At first, Mumbai looked in a position to score more than 180 runs at, but they scored only 41 runs in the last six overs and lost six wickets in the meantime.
Saurabh Tiwary scored the highest innings of 42 runs for Mumbai. During this time, he hit 3 fours and 1 six off his bat. At the same time, Quinton de Kock contributed 33, Kieron Pollard smashed 18 and Suryakumar Yadav contributed 17 runs for Mumbai. Captain Rohit Sharma could score only 12 runs.
Lungi Ngidi was the most successful bowler for Chennai as he sent three Mumbai players back to the pavilion for 38 runs in four overs. Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each, while Piyush Chawla and Sam Curran got one wicket each.

Ambati Rayudu was awarded with Player of the Match for his fantastic 71 of 48.
