WI vs SCO Highlights: Another upset in T20 World Cup as Scotland defeat West Indies by 42 runs
WI vs SCO, T20 World Cup 2022 - Highlights: George Munsey led the batting charge of Scotland, scoring an unbeaten 66 of 53 balls.
In another upset of the T20 World Cup 2022, Scotland outclassed West Indies by 42 runs in a Group B match at Bellerive Oval, Hobart on Monday, October 17.
Chasing the victory target of 161 runs, the two-time T20 World Champions were bowled out for 118 runs in 18.3 overs. It was a disastrous batting display from the Windies as they never looked into a rhythm while chasing the target.
Jason Holder top-scored for Men in Maroon with 38 runs from 33 balls, while Kyle Mayers (20 off 13), Brandon King (17 off 15), and Evin Lewis (14 off 13) were other batters who could manage to score in double digits.
For Scotland, Mark Watt was the wrecker-in-chief, having bagged three wickets in his four overs while giving away just 12 runs. Apart from Watt, Brad Wheal and Michael Leask also bagged two wickets each. Safyaan Sharif and Josh Davey scalped one wicket apiece.
Earlier, putting to bat first, Scotland rode on George Munsey’s flamboyant half-century knock to post a challenging total of 160 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allocated 20 overs, which proved to be more than enough for Men in Purple.
Apart from Michael Jones (20 off 17), Berrington (16 off 14), MacLeod (23 off 14), and Chris Greaves (16* off 11) also chipped with handy contributions. Jason Holder was sensational with the ball, having picked up two wickets in his three overs’ spell. Alzarri Joseph also claimed two wickets while conceding 28 runs in his four overs quota.
What’s next?
The two-time T20 World Champions need to win their remaining two matches against Zimbabwe on Wednesday and Ireland on Friday to qualify for the Super 12.
