AUS vs SL: Australia rode on Marcus Stoinis’s batting carnage and pulled off a miraculous win against Sri Lanka to register their first points in the T20 World Cup 2022 on Tuesday, October 25.
Stoinis played a mind-boggling knock of 59 runs off just 18 balls to help Australia chase down the target of 158 runs and record a stunning seven wickets victory over Lankan Lions.
Aaron Finch remained undefeated for 31 off 42 balls while the likes of Mitchell Marsh (18), Davis Warner (11), and Glenn Maxwell (23) chipped in with handy contributions.
For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga emerged as the most expensive bowler as he went on to concede 53 runs in his three overs’ spells while the likes of Maheesh Theekshana, Chamika Karunaratne, Dhananjaya de Silva picked a wicket each.
Earlier, Charith Asalanka’s unbeaten knock of 38 runs off 25 balls guided Sri Lanka to a challenging total of 157 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Apart from him, Pathum Nissanka stood firm amid the ruins and clobbered 40 runs from 45 balls to keep the hopes alive for Sri Lanka. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Ashton Agar, Glenn Maxwell, and Pat Cummins took one wicket each.
