IPL 2023 Retention: Rajasthan Royals (RR) Retain R Ashwin Ahead of Mini-Auction – Report
Rajasthan Royals (RR) spent INR 5 Crore to acquire the services of R Ashwin in the 2022 mega-auction.

The runner-up of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals (RR) have retained Ravichandran Ashwin ahead of IPL 2023 mini-auction.
The rumours of Rajasthan Royals releasing the senior spinner went viral on social media a couple of days ago. However, on Tuesday (November 15), it was found out that Ashwin has been retained by the Royals.
The champions of the inaugural edition of IPL acquired the services of the wily off-spinner for INR 5 crore in the mega-auction, held earlier in February before IPL 2022.
Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals were involved in a bidding war for the Tamil Nadu spinner, and in the end, the seasoned spinner was acquired by Rajasthan Royals.
Ashwin played a key role in Rajasthan Royals’ success in the 2022 edition of the cash-rich league, having picked up 12 wickets in 17 matches at an economy of 7.51.
With the bat, Ashwin accumulated 191 runs in 12 innings at an average of 27.29 and a strike rate of 141.48.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had asked all ten franchises to submit the list of their retained and released players by November 15 while the mini-auction for IPL 2023 will take place on December 23 at Kochi.
