IPL 2023 Retention: Aaron Finch Likely to Pull Out of the Tournament – Report
Reportedly, KKR is looking to part ways with Aaron Finch ahead of IPL 2023 mini-auction.
Australia T20I captain Aaron Finch will miss the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sportstar reported on Monday (November 14).
Finch recently led Australia at the T20 World Cup 2022, where they failed to make it to the knockout stages.
Finch, who had a base price of INR 1.5 crore, went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) mega-auction.
However, later he was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after the auction as a replacement for star opening batter Alex Hales, who opted out of the IPL 2022 due to bubble fatigue.
As per the report of Sportstar, the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup-winning captain is unsure regarding his participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
“At this stage, Aaron is still deciding if he would want to participate in the IPL. He has a young child at home, and now the event goes for 10 weeks which is too long. It will be a discussion in the coming period,” a source close to the player told Sportstar.
The veteran Australia opener didn’t have a great outing in IPL 2022 season, having managed to score just 86 runs in 5 matches.
Earlier, it was reported that the two-time champions are looking to part ways with the Australian opener. The report further added that the Knight Riders will target the star English opener Alex Hales in IPL 2023 mini-auction.
