IPL 2023: Star England Opener Opted Out of The Tournament

IPL 2023: Alex Hales, Sam Billings, and Pat Cummins opted out of IPL 2023 season.

In the latest turn of events, Alex Hales, the destructive English opener has opted out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Notably, Kolkata Knight Riders bought Hales in a mega auction for INR 1.5 crore. However, he missed the last season due to bio-bubble fatigue.

The two-time champions took to Twitter to confirm the development.

“We respect @patcummins30, @sambillings, and @AlexHales1’s decision of skipping next year’s IPL due to personal reasons and national team commitments,” KKR wrote.

Earlier Sam Billings also opted out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 to focus on red-ball cricket while Pat Cummins pulled out of the cash-rich league due to his heavy international schedule.

Earlier, the defending champions Gujarat Titans traded the Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson and Afghanistan wicket-keeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz to Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2023 mini-auction.

Delhi Capitals also traded Shardul Thakur worth INR 10.75 crore to the Knight Riders for uncapped Mumbai all-rounder Aman Khan and cash.

They have retained 14 players ahead of IPL 2023 mini-auction and are left with a purse of INR 7.05 Crore.
