Steve Smith’s Special Achievement; Surpasses Jacques Kallis, Virat Kohli

Australian batsman Steve Smith, on Sunday has surpassed many cricket legends after hitting a half-century and a hundred in the same Test. Steve Smith has smashed a century and half-century in the third Test against India on the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney.

With this hundred and half-century, Australian batsman Steve Smith has surpassed Jacques Kallis, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Potting, Allan Border, Alastair Cook and Kumar Sangakkara to achieve a special feat.

Steve Smith scored 131 in the first innings of the Sydney Test and 81 runs in the second innings. Considered one of the world’s greatest all-rounders, South Africa’s Jacques Kallis has achieved this feat 9 times, while Cook, who has scored the most Test runs for England, has scored a century and a half-century in the same match 8 times.

Apart from this, Allan Border, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara and current India captain Virat Kohli have scored centuries and fifties in the same match 7-7 times.

With the century, Smith equalled Virat Kohli’s tally of 27 Test hundreds as he became the second-fastest batsman to reach the landmark. Only Australian batting legend Sir Donald Bradman achieved the feat faster than Smith as he scored 27 Test centuries in just 70 innings.
