BBL 2022-23: Jason Sangha Named Captain of Sydney Thunder

Jason Sangha has been appointed captain of Sydney Thunder.

Australia all-rounder Jason Sangha has been named as the captain of the Sydney Thunder ahead of the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League.

Expressing his delight in being appointed as the captain of Sydney Thunder, Jason Sangha said:

“This means a lot. I have been fortunate to have played under some tremendous leaders at Sydney Thunder, starting with Shane Watson.”

“There have also been other quality skippers, including Callum Ferguson, Usman Khawaja, and Chris Green. Each of them had positive impacts on the team, and something they all did well was they led by their actions – and that’s something I want to do.”

“They are all leaders, and I’m in good hands here because, besides Sydney Thunders’s squad of players, we have an exceptional coaching and support staff.”

Sydney Thunder finished the 2021-22 season in the third spot after winning nine matches out of the 14 they played in the tournament. They lost the eliminator game against Adelaide Strikers and were knocked out of the tournament.

Australia’s premium T20 tournament, Big Bash League (BBL) is scheduled to commence on December 13, 2022, with the final of the tournament slated to be played on February 4.

Sydney Thunder will kick off its tournament campaign against Melbourne Stars in the opening match of the tournament on December 13 at Manuka Oval.
