PSL Draft 2023 Players List, Foreign Players List, Retained Players List, Pick Order, Where to Watch

The eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will begin on February 9 with the final of the tournament scheduled to be played on March 19. The Draft for the PSL 2023 is scheduled to take place on December 15 in Karachi. 

Earlier, all the six franchises announced their retentions on November 11 ahead of the players’ draft. In one of the most shocking moves, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam moved to Peshawar Zalmi in the supplementary round while veteran batter Shoaib Malik and youngster Haider Ali have joined the Karachi Kings.  

The defending champions Lahore Qalandars is the only franchise that retained two players in the platinum category – Rashid Khan and Shaheen Afridi while all other franchises have retained just one player from this category. 

Multan Sultans, the runner-up and the table toppers of the last edition of the tournament, have retained their skipper Mohammad Rizwan in the platinum category.  

Islamabad United, on the other hand, have retained Shadab Khan in the platinum category while Mohammad Nawaz finds a place in platinum category for the Quetta Gladiators franchise. 

During the draft, each of the six franchises will have the Right to Match (RTM) Card that will allow them to pick any player they released ahead of the Draft. A total of 18 members can be picked in the squad after the draft.

Players have been divided into the six categories – Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Emerging and Supplementary, and franchises will have to pick cricketers from each category. A team can select three players from the first three categories, and two from the remaining categories. 

PSL Draft 2023 – Pick Order

The picking order was decided through a draw at the Pakistan Cricket Board office. Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have been granted the first pick.

Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans will make the second and third picks. The fourth and fifth picks will belong to Karachi Kings and Islamabad United.
