WPL 2023: GUJ-W vs MI-W Match 1- Who Won Match Between Gujarat Giants Women and Mumbai Indians Women?

GUJ-W vs MI-W - Mumbai Indians thrashed Gujarat Giants by 143 runs.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 started with a lopsided match as Mumbai Indians cruised to a thumping 143 runs victory over Gujarat Giants on Saturday, March 4 at Dr DY Patil Stadium.

Gujarat Giants’ pursuit of the mammoth target of 208 runs proved to be a fruitless one, as they lost wickets continuously and were ultimately bowled out for a mere 64 runs in 15.1 overs.

An early injury to Gujarat’s captain Beth Mooney meant that the team was effectively playing with only nine wickets. The ensuing collapse was inevitable, as the team struggled to maintain their composure in the face of mounting pressure.

For Mumbai Indians, Saika Ishaque picked up a four-wicket haul while Natalie Sciver and Amelia Kerr scalped two wickets each. Isabelle Wong also got a wicket to her name.

Amelia Kerr also showcased her big-hitting abilities, smashing an unbeaten 45 runs off just 24 balls, laced with six boundaries and a six, to complement Harmanpreet Kaur’s scintillating innings.
