With less than a week to go until the start of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, the list of injured players is growing longer by the day, with fast bowlers currently topping the list.
The star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has been out of action for more than six months now has also ruled out of the lucrative tournament. Adding to this, Jhye Richardson, Prasidh Krishna, and Mukesh Choudhary are the latest casualties to join the growing list of injured players.
In light of the numerous injuries plaguing the players, we have compiled a list of those who have been ruled out or are at risk of being ruled out of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League:
Rishabh Pant: The star wicket-keeper batter is set to miss all cricketing action until next year after a severe accident that has resulted in serious injuries.
Jasprit Bumrah: His back injury has forced him to withdraw from IPL 2023, as the Mumbai Indians pacer is yet to fully recover.
Jhye Richardson: The Australian fast bowler has recently undergone surgery on his hamstring. The blow also likely ends his chances of competing for an Ashes berth in the summer.
Jonny Bairstow: The Punjab Kings batter will miss the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) decided not to issue him the NOC.
Will Jacks: The RCB all-around will also be missing the 2023 IPL season due to an injury.
Prasidh Krishna: The Rajasthan Royals star pacer was ruled out of IPL 2023 following a surgery for a lumbar stress fracture in his spine.
Shreyas Iyer: The captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, is likely to be out of action for the first half of the IPL 2023 season due to a back injury.
Mohsin Khan: The talented pacer from Uttar Pradesh who debuted for Lucknow Super Giants last year, is likely to sit out the first half of the tournament due to an injury that is still healing
Mukesh Choudhary: The Chennai Super Kings CEO has expressed concern over the fitness of their player Mukesh Choudhary and stated that he is likely to miss out on the IPL 2023 due to his ongoing injury.
Rajat Patidar: He is yet to complete his recovery and will miss half of the IPL 2023.
