IPL 2023: KKR’s Nitish Rana Joins Elite Company of Gambhir and Uthappa in Top Scorer List
Nitish Rana became only the fourth player to score over 2,000 runs for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Nitish Rana, on Wednesday (May 4) entered an exclusive club of just four players to have scored over 2,000 runs for Kolkata Knight Riders in the history of the Indian Premier League.
The captain of the Knight Riders reached the landmark during the 47th match of the ongoing season of the lucrative league, which was played against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
KKR was reeling at 35/3 when Nitish Rana took to the crease and partnered with Rinku Singh to form a 61-run stand for the fourth wicket. He was batting with flair and scored 42 runs off just 31 balls before Markram got the better of him.

Following this knock, Rana has now moved into fourth place on KKR’s all-time leading run-scorer list with 2019 runs in 80 innings. Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa, and Andre Russell, occupy the top three positions on the list with 3035, 2439, and 2143 runs, respectively.

Nitish Rana is leading Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League after their regular captain Shreyas Iyer ruled out of the entire tournament due to injury.
The two-time champions, however, didn’t have a great campaign so far, having managed to win three matches out of the nine they played. They are currently sitting at the bottom half of the points table with just six points in their account.
