BCCI Announces Squad for Asian Games 2023, Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma Make the Cut
Asian Games squad will not include first-choice players due to a scheduling conflict with the ODI World Cup.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named as captain for the Asian Games 2023 as India have announced a second-string squad for the prestigious tournament. The Asian Games will be played in China between September 23-October 8.
Due to a scheduling conflict with the ODI World Cup, which is set to begin on October 5, the Asian Games will not include first-choice players who are vying for a spot in the World Cup squad.
Rinku Singh who had a great IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders last season also got a place in the squad alongside Jitesh Sharma. The board has added two wicket-keepers to the team as Prabhsimran Singh has also earned a spot.
The likes of Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and Shivam Mavi will handle the pace department while Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Ravi Bishnoi will oversee the spin duties.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also announced a stand-by list of the players which includes Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, and Sai Sudarsan in it.
