The Hundred 2023: Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry Withdraw from Tournament Due to Injuries

Both Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry sustained injuries during Australia Women tour of Ireland

In a major blow to ‘The Hundred,’ two Australian cricket stars, Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry, have been forced to opt out of the tournament, just before the much-anticipated start of the tournament.

Both players sustained injuries during their tour of Ireland. While wicketkeeper-batter Healy suffered a fresh fracture on her left-hand index finger, which was still healing from a prior injury, all-rounder Perry sustained a knee injury.

Cricket Australia has confirmed that Perry, who was set to captain Birmingham Phoenix, will require four to six weeks of rest and rehabilitation to overcome the injury.

Phoebe Litchfield will replace Alyssa Healy in Northern Superchargers, while Ellyse Perry’s replacement has yet to be announced. Meanwhile, India star batter Jemimah Rodrigues joined Northern Superchargers as the replacement for Heather Graham.

The third edition of the 100-ball tournament will kick off from Tuesday, August 1 with the opening match set to be played between Trent Rockets Women and Southern Brave Women.
