Twitter Reactions: Sydney Sixers Thrashed Perth Scorchers by 27 Runs To Claim Their Third BBL Title

BBL 2020-21: A perfect victory for Sydney Sixers.

Sydney Sixers once again claimed the BBL 2020-21 title on Saturday after defeating Perth Scorchers in the final match.

James Vince gave a perfect start to Sydney Sixers as he thrashed the Scorchers’ bowlers all around the ground to score a match-winning knock of 95 runs from 60 deliveries. The right-handed batsman smashed 10 fours and three breathtaking sixes during his brilliant inning.

Apart from Vince, skipper Moises Henriques (18), Dan Christian (20), and Jordan Silk (17) also made contributions to take the team’s total to 188/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

Talking about their opposition Perth Scorchers, Jhye Richardson and Andrew Tye scalped two wickets each while Fawad Ahmad picked one wicket.

Scorchers got off to a flying start thanks to a 45-run opening partnership between Bancroft and Liam Livingstone and were four runs ahead of Sixers at the ten-over mark. However, they endured a power surge nightmare – losing two wickets in four balls – to all but end their hopes of capturing a fourth title.

Ashton Turner and Aaron Hardie put on a brave sixth-wicket stand, adding 25 runs in just over two overs before Turner departed with the score at 142/6. Hardie powered on, reaching 26 off 13 deliveries but he couldn’t see his side home.

After losing Hardie in the 19th over, Scorchers lost two further wickets for just three runs to fall 27 runs short of victory.

Ben Dwarshuis finished with 3-37 while Jackson Bird, Christian and Sean Abbott each grabbed a pair.

With this win, Sydney Sixers equalled the record of Perth Scorchers of having won the BBL title thrice. While Perth Scorchers won the title in the 3rd, 4th and 6th edition of the League, Sydney Sixers lifted the BBL trophy in the 1st, 9th and 10th edition of the Big Bash League.
